Travel Information and Driving Directions to Rugged Horizon
Overview of the Area
Welcome! Our wedding venue/vacation rental is located in western Montana’s idyllic Mission Valley, surrounded by rolling hay fields and with spectacular views of the Mission Mountains and the Bison Range. Many people refer to this area as the “Switzerland of the West” because of the rugged peaks that rise up from the valley floor. Our venue is also located inside the boundaries of the Flathead Indian Reservation, home to three tribes — the Bitterroot Salish, the Upper Pend d’Oreille, and the Kootenai. This area has a rich cultural heritage and you can learn more about it by visiting such sites as the Bison Range, the Three Chiefs Cultural Center, the St. Ignatius Mission, and Fort Connah. Whether you choose to stay here and explore the Mission Valley, or whether you prefer to use this as a jumping off point for other Montana adventures, we are near many scenic attractions. Our venue is situated:
35 minutes north of Missoula;
35 minutes south of Flathead Lake (Polson);
2 hours from the west entrance to Glacier National Park;
4 hours to access points for the Bob Marshall Wilderness; and
5 hours to Yellowstone National Park.

To drive to our venue, you will take Montana Highway 93, either north from Missoula or south from Polson/Flathead Lake. We are located approximately 5 minutes south of the town of St. Ignatius. Please see the map below for additional details:
Driving Directions to Rugged Horizon, 62143 Blood Ranch Lane, St. Ignatius, MT 59865: From MT Highway 93, turn onto Blood Ranch Lane, a gravel road. Take the first left turn (marked with a “wedding” sign) and follow the road until it forks again. Turn left at the fork and head toward the barn with the maroon roof. Parking for the barn will be up ahead on your right, through the break in the white fence.
Buses, Taxis, and Ride-Share Information
Taxis and ride-sharing companies such as Uber and Lyft are hard to find in our area, thus we recommend driving your own car or renting a vehicle to get to and from our venue. Sometimes wedding couples arrange bus transportation, so if you are a wedding guest, please check with the couple for any details regarding that option.
Air Travel
The Missoula Airport is the closest airport to our venue, and is approximately 35 minutes south.
Other airport options are as follows:
Glacier International Airport (approximately 2 hours north of our venue);
Spokane International Airport (approximately 3.5 hours west of our venue, in Washington State).
